Follow the track north from
the car park for about 1km. Over the style and turn sharp left after about 250m
turn right and start ascending the hill. After roughly 500m the track forks by
some open ground, take the right fork and keep ascending through woodland. When
the track levels off you are walking around the top of Kingley Vale, shortly
there is a convenient fallen tree to sit on and rest. Eventually you emerge on
to open down land with two tumuli to the left. These provide excellent vantage
points from which to admire the views. To the north, Up Park is visible in the
distance, to the south the view extends from Bognor to Southampton Water. Follow
the path to the south east and begin descending and in a short distance go over
a style and just keep going through some more woodland until you reach a fence.
Turn left and follow the footpath along the fence until you reach a deeply
rutted track. Turn right and follow this track for about 800m and turn right at
the cross roads. Follow this track for about the same distance until you reach
the first style that you climbed over. Turn left and walk back to the car park.
