No. 10 The Hayling Billy Trail Havant to Langstone

The Hayling Billy Trail is a footpath which runs from Havant town centre (New Lane level crossing) southwards through Langstone and onto Hayling Island where it becomes the Hayling Billy Coastal Path. The route of the Trail mostly follows the old 'Hayling Billy' Railway which closed in 1963.

The current upgrade to the Hayling Billy Trail is being carried out to provide part of the National Cycle Network being developed by Sustrans, the civil engineering charity.

Map of the Hayling Billy TrailThis walk covers phase one of the project from Havant town centre to Langstone - officially opened on Friday 30th August 2002, by Steven Norris.

If driving it is better to start at the Langstone end where there is a free car park and The Ship. Follow the main road north for about 400 yards and you will find the start of the Trail on the left. Then it is just a case of following it north.  It is not very exciting the highlights are probably passing under the A27 and East Street. For some of its length it is paralleled by the stream which drains into the mill pond at Langstone. that's it, keep going and the path terminates by Havant Station car park.
